FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS YOGA RIGHT FOR ME?

Yoga is for everyone. No matter your age or abilities, there is a yoga class for you out there! If you can breathe, you can do yoga.

CAN MEN COME TO YOGA CLASSES?

YES! Yoga is for everyone. We have quite a few men in class already and I would love to see more people in class, men or women!

I’M NOT FLEXIBLE/I HAVE BAD BALANCE/I’M OUT OF SHAPE – CAN I STILL DO YOGA?

Definitely! You don’t need to be able to touch your toes to take part in a yoga class. Neither do you need to be able to balance on your head. Yoga will help you improve both your flexibility and balance over time and with practice. We spend lots of time learning about the body so we can move it safely, building on our strength each time.

I’VE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE – WHICH CLASS

WOULD BE BEST FOR ME?

Some of our classes are not suitable for beginners but some are. Please take a look at the timetable where the levels are clearly explained. If you  are unsure get in touch and we can work out what would be best for your needs.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?

You should wear comfortable clothing so you are able to move around without feeling restricted. Shorts/leggings/jogging trousers and a t-shirt should do the job. A t-shirt or vest that is fitted or that you can tuck in is best.

CAN I EAT BEFORE CLASS

It’s not advisable, we do postures which compress the abdomen such as lying on your tummy and we turn ourselves upside down in postures such as downward facing dog. If you eat before class  you may feel sick and uncomfortable and a bit windy! A light meal or snack 2.5 hours before is about right.

WHEN SHOULD I GET THERE?

Please make sure you are on time or even arrive 5/10 min before your class to give you enough time to ask any questions and to have a few minutes to relax in the studio before the class starts. This is a great way to leave your busy day behind and calm the mind down before class.  Late entry will not be permitted as we often start class with a meditation.

CAN I COME TO CLASS IF I HAVE AN INJURY/BAD BACK?

Yoga can help with many of life’s ailments as it is a gentler form of exercise. However, please get in touch and let me know of any injuries or concerns so we can discuss this in advance, a private session may be better if you are injured.

CAN I COME TO CLASS IF I AM PREGNANT?

Firstly congratulations! Our teacher is pregnancy yoga trained but please get in touch before attending a class to discuss your individual situation.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN MAT?

Yes, please bring your own mat to class to lay over our mats. If you do not own a yoga mat then we have them here, just get one when you can.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A CLASS?

Check out the timetable & booking page for the current pricing.

HOW DO YOU ESTABLISH YOUR PRICES?

Establishing prices for sessions is a real struggle! Is it too much? Is it too cheap? In establishing prices we have to consider all of our hours of training plus investment in continued training, time spent session planning, time spent teaching plus maintenance of the studio. We give tailored teaching to small groups and privates, in doing so we aim to provide a very high standard of teaching in a beautiful and well maintained studio, this is how we establish our prices.
